Joshua P. Searcy
Joshua P. Searcy is a 2005 graduate from the Baylor University School of Law. In March, 2021, he was appointed as a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Texas overseeing the Tyler, Marshall, Lufkin, and Beaumont divisions. Previously from 2006 until 2021 he practiced law in Longview, Texas. In private practice he represented debtors and creditors in Chapters 7, 11, 12, and 13, and Chapter 7 and 11 Trustees. Joshua also represented and defended financial institutions, handled real estate matters and non-bankruptcy civil litigation, and served as a panel Chapter 7 Trustee.
Joshua earned a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, graduating with majors in Spanish and History. He is also involved in his local community, including as a former board member of Asbury House Child Enrichment Center (a non-profit pre-school for low income children), and as a former board member of the East Texas Regional Development Corporation (Northeast Texas’ SBA 504 CDC Lender).
He previously served as Chair of the Bankruptcy Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, is a past recipient of the Section’s Romina L. Mulloy Bossio Achievement Award and Robert. B. Wilson Distinguished Service Award, and is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s 2018 Top 40 under 40 class.
