Brad Caldwell of Dallas’ Caldwell Cassady & Curry is a trial lawyer who focuses on patent infringement and complex commercial litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants.
He has served as lead trial counsel in high-stakes lawsuits that have produced more than $2.5 billion in verdicts and settlements since 2013. Brad has been lead counsel in cases involving digital media, cellular telecommunications, computer networking, data security, computer imaging, medical devices, banking technology, and oilfield services.

Brad has been named “Litigator of the Week” by The American Lawyer magazine two different times based on significant patent infringement verdicts against Apple Inc. in the same year. Those jury awards of $625.6 million and $302 million were ranked as the 6th and 9th largest in the nation at the time.
In the years before and since, Brad has been lead trial counsel for plaintiffs in winning verdicts over $500 million on three other occasions. This includes a $532.9 million verdict for Smartflash LLC against Apple that was the year’s top Texas verdict and the largest intellectual property verdict in the U.S., ranking third nationwide overall, as well as wins of $502.6 million and $502.8 million in 2018 and 2020, respectively.
Brad was born and raised in the Eastern District of Texas. Before starting his legal career, Brad worked for a year as an electrical engineer at the Central Intelligence Agency in Langley, Virginia, where he obtained a top-secret security clearance and was awarded multiple merit-based citations.
