Mr. Brown is an attorney in private practice in Sherman, Texas, since July of 2020 after a twenty-year career as a state and federal prosecutor.

From 2018 until 2020, Mr. Brown served as the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas, overseeing the Department of Justice’s legal operations for a 43-county district stretching from north central Texas to the suburbs of Houston. A native of Grayson County and a graduate of the University of Texas and SMU School of Law, Mr. Brown was previously elected for 5 terms as the Criminal District Attorney of Grayson County, Texas. Prior to his election, Brown operated a private law practice in Sherman and was previously an associate attorney for the Dallas law firm of Cowles and Thompson, P.C. In 2009, he was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to serve on the Texas Youth Commission, following the re-organization of that agency and continue to serve as a board member of the Texas Juvenile Justice Department until 2014, where he helped to oversee the state juvenile prison and rehabilitation system.

In his private practice, Mr. Brown provides local counsel representation in the federal courts of the Eastern District of Texas and selectively represents individuals and companies in state and federal criminal matters, business litigation disputes, and personal injury cases. He also serves as special counsel for businesses and government entities in matters requiring investigations of potential criminal or administrative violations.

He and his wife, Megan, have been married for 25 years and have two college-age daughters.
