Jim Wren

Leon Jaworski Chair of Practice & Procedure, Baylor Law

Professionally, Jim Wren is a trial lawyer first and foremost. Before becoming a law professor, he was designated each year as a Texas Super Lawyer in business litigation, former national president of the National Board of Trial Advocacy, a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), and board certified nationally and in Texas in multiple trial specializations. Now as a law professor, while continuing his work as a trial lawyer, his teaching focuses on litigation and litigation management. He teaches Practice Court, Advanced Trial Preparation, Fundamentals of Litigation Management, and Case Assessment Techniques at Baylor Law.

Clients want lawyers who know how to deliver the results clients need. Professor Wren teaches that a lawyer’s most valuable commodity in court or in negotiation is resilient credibility. He emphasizes the need for a cost-effective litigation strategy to accompany trial skills and, as a proponent for litigation excellence, he attracts national leaders in litigation management to the Baylor program.

Classes are conducted in an East Texas drawl, spoken as God intended. An enduring skeptic of yoga, Professor Wren prefers cycling, especially on the downhill side.
