Abe McGlothin, Jr. serves as the First Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas. In this role, he serves as the office’s second-in-command and assists in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the office and the supervision of over 110 employees, including attorneys and support staff.

Prior to this, Attorney McGlothin worked as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas in Dallas where he prosecuted violent federal felony cases, fraud matters, as well as Organized Crime and Drug cases from 2018-2023. Before moving to Texas, Mr. McGlothin worked as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi. Prior to his time as a federal prosecutor, Attorney McGlothin served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Fourth Judicial District of Mississippi where he tried a wide variety of cases ranging from burglary to capital murder. He began his legal career as a law clerk for a Mississippi state court judge.

Abe earned his undergraduate degree from Jackson State University and his law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law.
